BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND / DATES AND ITINERY

Buckingham palace has announced the Kings coronation will take place Saturday the 6th May 2023 and have announced an extra bank holiday to mark the occasion Monday 8th May. This means many of us will be able to celebrate the historic occasion. Local communities are gearing up and getting ready for the parties to begin.

Saturdy 6th May – “Kings Procession”

The Weekend will begin at Westminster Abbey on Sat 6th May with the service known as the “”Kings Procession” being carried out by the Archbishop of Canterbury where the service will reflect on the new Monarchs role today and how it will look towards the future.

Sunday 7th May –“The Big Lunch”

On Sunday the 7th May “The big Lunch” will be used to boost community spirit as we are encouraged to take this opportunity to share lunch with our neighbours and friends, communities around the country are expected to see huge street parties as part of the big weekend plans.

 Later in the day we will see a special Coronation Concert that will take place at Windsor Castle that will be produced and staged live by the BBC will bring Global music Icons and contemporary stars together for this historic occasion.

The Centre piece of the days events will come by the way of “lighting up the nation” as we see the country come together as iconic locations across the country light up using fireworks, drones and laser shows. This will be a fantastic end to a fantastic day.

Monday 8th May – “The Big Help out”

“The Big Help Out” will be held on Monday the 8th may is being organised by the together coalition and a wide range of partners such as the Scouts, Royal voluntary service and faith groups across the united Kingdom.

The Big Help Out will be a tribute His Majesty The Kings public service and will encourage people to people to try out volunteering for themselves and get involved in the local community.
